Lead Sheet Production
Lead sheets for radiation shielding must be produced with the standard purity ratio specified by the NDK in our country. The uniformity of weight and thickness at every point determines the quality of lead sheets. Lead sheets produced to this standard ensure the same radiation shielding uniformly across the entire surface with consistent thickness.
Why Should High-Purity Lead Sheets Be Used?
Radiation shielding applications are calculated based on the density of the lead sheet used as a radiation barrier. The specific gravity of lead is 11.34 g/cm³. However, when lead is alloyed with other metals like tin (7.3 g/cm³), calcium (1.55 g/cm³), and antimony (6.697 g/cm³), its density decreases. Using pure lead ensures you can maintain consistent thickness in radiation shielding. Shielding calculations are based on the specific gravity of pure lead (Pb: 11.34 g/cm³). When impure lead is used, applications made at standard thickness may fail to provide proper sealing.
